apple cider century!

what a strange & beautiful weekend. we camped out saturday night and woke up bright and early to partake in the midwest's most popular ride- the apple cider century. we did the half century (50 miles, which was technically 53 according to my map) in the pouring rain on the roads of south-west michigan. the ride itself was beautiful, and i would not trade the rain in for sun in a million years. it really added to the whole experience and made it that much more fulfilling. the spicy smell of the autumn harvest, the smell of grapes in the vineyards, the view of the sandy dunes and lake... all with the scent of wet dirt & dewy grass lingering all the while. today i feel more balanced. more aware.

this represents the depth of one's soul. i think that everyone is capable of being deep, but some just choose not to tap into that part of themselves. maybe they are afraid of something? maybe they are afraid of truly knowing and loving themselves and seeing what they are capable of. that is a shame.

we spent the afternoon out on the water floating around in the afternoon sun. the water felt so good inbetween my toes. later, we put our shoes back on and went on a little hike on some trails in the trees. all of this joy for a mere $10. priceless.
