i want to ride my bicycle, i want to ride my bike.
human powered transportation is the best kind. how i wish of commuting to work on my bike. since that is not possible due to locality issues, cycling is limited to weekends and after work jaunts. the best rides are those on the trails out in nature. seeing a brilliant blue jay perched atop a branch, dodging bumble bees in the late evening sun, or seeing a heron soar above. these are the kinds of things that make me love riding. this page is a collection of photographs from our cycling trips, as well as a bike log started in 2004.
favorite bicycle links
waterfall glen - 2,500 acres, 700 native plants, 197 animal species & a 9.5 mile loop.
the l.a.t.e. ride. - friend's of the park site
matthiessen state park - the less visited matthiessen is a good alternative to popular starved rock.
duffy's - while riding out in the starved rock area, i suggest that you stop here for deep-fried pickle spears!
bianchi bikes - my dream bike.
david johnson's GIT journal - dave is a kind fellow who has helped me out with a lot of cycling questions!
apple cider century - i did this half century in the pouring rain.
the naperville bike club - great folks.
pj's courthouse tavern - cheap good biker (the other kind!) bar/restaurant to stop off at while riding the great western.
fat hippy's homemade bike lights - for those do-it-yourselfers.
cyclin' fool - inspiration that is is possible to see the country by bikepacking.
looking for a bike in chicago? - give a bike a new home.
bikepacking & touring - the late ken kifer's page, everything from making your own touring bags, to picking out a tent, cooking, advice & his own personal travelogues.
i&m canal - 61 mile trail running through the downtown area of many towns like morris, ottawa & utica. perfect for stopping off for lunch. (i'm always thinking about food) and bring a tackle box, there are lots of spots to fish along the way. |
